A property situated in Coimbatore.

Being a nomadic soul has always inspired me to travel to unexplored places and this time I landed up in the foothills of Velliangiri in Coimbatore.
What inspired me to travel all the way long from Bangalore to Deco Villa in Coimbatore is the Ecorganic tourism that the property promotes. Such properties are rare to find in and around big cities.
Let’s explore this unique property.

Location: Deco Villa is situated in Coimbatore, approx 15 Kms away from the main city bus stand.
How To Reach: One can reach Coimbatore by air, rail or by road from Bangalore, Chennai or any other city in proximity. A private cab can be arranged by Ecorganic stay to the villa which hardly takes 25 mins to reach the property.

The road journey from the city to the villa is beautiful. On reaching the property I was amazed looking at the huge farms spread across 12 acres of land. I was welcomed by our lovely Hosts Mrs. and Mr. Gunasekaran who are the owners of the property.

Day 1 at Deco Villa

After freshening up I started my day with a delicious homemade breakfast served by Mrs.Gunashekaran and she fed me till my stomach was completely full. Undoubtedly this was the best authentic south Indian breakfast I have ever had. I completely enjoyed the homely food. All energized with wholesome breakfast, I planned to stroll through the vast coconut farms and surprisingly there were more than 425 coconut trees in the farm which were 30 years old and each tree being very tall and having great yield of coconuts.

As various kinds of plants, trees and flowers are grown here, Deco villa is also called as Deco Flora amongst local folks.

Some of the most beautiful flowers such as Lily, rose, hibiscus, sunflower, marigold, jasmine and many more were spread all across the villa which gives a very colorful look to the whole property.

The property is one of a kind as it is known for growing a shrub called “Artabotrys” which has a magical flower that gives out a very peculiar fragrance.
Think of a fruit and then smell this flower. For sure you will get the fragrance of the same fruit which you had thought about. Isn’t it magical ??

Do visit Deco villa if you too want to experience the magical nature.

As the theme of the property has been on Ecorganic tourism, I did not want to miss an opportunity to involve myself in farming and gardening activities.

Mr.Gunashekaran(host) had arranged organic farming as a part of recreational activity exclusively for me. We began with deweeding the land and I had the opportunity to till the plot by using the tractor. In about two hours of time almost 5000sq feet of land was made ready for sowing organic vegetables and fruits. The weather was also favorable as there were recurrent drizzles and the soil was wet.

The saplings of spinach, small onions, marigold, chili, tomato, cabbage, beans were collected from the nursery and then planted by me in the half of the plot and in another half of the plot I sowed the seeds of brinjal, cucumber, bottlegourd and bitter gourd.

The best part about organic farming is growing fruits and vegetables by using pure manure to get a great yield. At no given point chemicals and fertilizers are used for farming. I enjoyed this activity as it is ideal for agritourism where people do not get an opportunity to have hands-on experience in agriculture.

After sowing seeds the whole farm was irrigated by fixing a sprinkler in the middle of the farm.

Post farming and gardening activities I headed back to the villa to enjoy delicious and energizing lunch which was much needed after putting in so much of efforts of planting

I charged up myself by taking a short nap and later in the evening I went for a walk to explore the other half of the farm. To my surprise, the farm was filled with guava, mango, grapes, pomegranate, orange, jackfruit and many more fruit-bearing trees. These were the same fruits that I was served in breakfast and lunch. No wonder they were so juicy and tasty as they were grown organically.

I plucked some fresh organically grown guavas as they were so tempting to look at and they were really sweet and juicy to eat.

The villa has got very good landscape and also training is given for landscaping and construction of barbecue was explained. There is a beautiful cascade in the lawns.

In the evening we had a campfire dinner in this exquisite privacy. The bonfire, cascade and barbecue kiosk was an ideal outdoor experience which gave peace and tranquility and we all joyfully shared the dinner. This private luxury can never be experienced elsewhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first day at Deco villa as it was gratefully spent and I was curious to know what’s in store for me for the second day.

Day 2 at Deco Villa

As I was already informed a night before that I would be taken out for local sightseeing, I woke up early the next day, freshened up and started my day with lip-smacking breakfast. I really liked the fact that the food which was served daily had no repetitions in the menu. Every day and every meal was one of a kind and it gave a great kick to my taste buds.

Post breakfast I headed off to visit Adiyogi Isha Yoga Center accompanied by the host and they also arranged for the transportation. On the way, I enjoyed watching the scenic beauty of Velliangiri and Nilgiri hills, covered with clouds and frequent drizzles.

I am really thankful to Mr. Gunashekaran for introducing me to Isha Yoga centre. He was very kind to accompany and guide me through. This place is known for conducting meditation and yoga sessions and people from all over the world visit to experience peace and tranquility.

Another interesting fact to note is that the Deco Villa is nearby to Isha Yoga foundation that is situated at 11-degrees latitude from the equator. Such Geographical regions are known for enhancing one’s Spiritual energy and one can experience peace. No wonder I experienced tranquility during my stay at Deco Villa.

Next, I headed to  Kovai Kutralam falls which is another 20 minutes drive from the Yoga center. The drive to the falls was breathtaking as the weather was awesome for the long drive through the ghats section. Due to heavy rains, the road was blocked however I could spot the starting point of the falls.

After exploring places around the property, I came back to the villa, had lunch and spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Gunasekaran. They mentioned about gardening, organic farming,  the kinds of fruits, vegetables, shrubs, flowers etc and how organically they grow them. Everything that is served as meals is cultivated in the farms and they do not purchase anything from local markets.

Another best part about the villa is that one can spot many peacocks as they are the frequent visitors in the property. I was lucky enough to be greeted by some of them.

The place is suitable for youngsters, couple, family and senior citizen who wish to relax and at the same time get high on nature. After such a long time I had an opportunity to be amongst the trees and in the farm which gave me a satisfaction of sustainability.

At any given point of time, there is sowing, irrigating or harvesting but one could also try their hands at milking the cows and sweat out in the farm to feel satisfied for having spent time in an activity which soothes the mind, body, and soul.

As said, Goodbyes are difficult and especially when you get attached to a beautiful and homely place like this. Deco villa is an ideal location to just sit back, relax and get close to mother nature.
For a man going away from nature has caused an imbalance, this Ecorganic spot and recreational activities help in rejuvenating one’s soul. The satisfaction of being with plants, crops, trees, animals, birds and hills makes one feel complete in the ecosystem and gives a sense of self-realization that human culture has basically evolved from agriculture.

If you feel like breaking through the monotonous hectic city life, then do visit Deco villa to get close to nature and indulge in some organic recreational activities to completely lose yourself in the laps of nature. Check out their link.  www.ecorganicstays.com.
